Mark Dillon Shafer, 44 years old, of Akron, died Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at his residence from a homicide. He was born July 21, 1966 in Warren, a son of Ray L. Shafer and Donna Dillon Shafer.
He was a graduate of Lakeview High School, where he played baseball and football for 4 years and graduated from Akron University with degrees in Fire Service and Business Administration. He was also active in college, playing baseball for 4 years. He served with the National Guard during Desert Storm.
Surviving are his mother, Donna Shafer of Champion, brothers, Rick L. Shafer of Bazetta, and Ronnie L. Shafer of Mecca, and sister, Renee L. Libertore of Conneaut. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Linda Rae Shafer.
